ITANAGAR, March 2:
The Arunachal Pradesh State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, approved several proposals aimed at strengthening governance, improving administrative efficiency and enhancing public services during its meeting held on Saturday.
One of the key decisions taken by the Cabinet was the creation of 15 posts under the Arunachal Pradesh Finance & Accounts Service Cadre in the Department of Finance, Planning and Investment. The newly approved posts include five Senior Finance & Accounts Officer (SFAO) positions and ten Finance & Accounts Officer (FAO) / Treasury Officer (TO) positions. Officials said the move is intended to strengthen financial administration and improve management of public finances in the state.
The Cabinet also approved the up-gradation of Grade Pay for the post of Charge-man in the Department of Civil Aviation. The decision follows recommendations made by the High-Level Standing Committee on Pay Anomaly, which reviewed disparities in pay structures across departments.
In another significant move, the Cabinet approved the Draft Arunachal Pradesh Press Accreditation Rules, 2025. The proposed rules aim to streamline the accreditation process for journalists and media professionals in the state. According to officials, the new framework focuses on improving transparency, maintaining professional standards, encouraging ethical journalism and introducing a more modern accreditation system.
The Cabinet further approved pay parity for Inspectors (JICS/JACS and SICS/SACS) in the Department of Cooperation, aligning their salary structure with similar posts in other state departments. The decision is based on recommendations from the High-Level Standing Committee on Pay Anomalies and is expected to address long-standing pay disparities.
In the health sector, the Cabinet approved the notification of Recruitment Rules for the post of Deputy Drugs Controller (DDC), Group-A (Non-Ministerial) under the Department of Health and Family Welfare. The government said the decision will strengthen the state's Drugs Regulatory Authority, helping improve monitoring of pharmaceuticals and public health standards.
The Council of Ministers also approved Recruitment Rules for the post of Senior Food Safety Officer, Group-A (Gazetted, Non-Ministerial) in the Health and Family Welfare Department. The revised rules replace recruitment guidelines issued in 2005 and bring the position in line with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 as well as recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved a one-time relaxation in Column 11 of the Recruitment Rules for Superintending Engineer, 2014 in the Department of Power. Officials said the relaxation was granted to address immediate administrative requirements within the department.
The state government stated that the decisions taken during the Cabinet meeting are aimed at improving governance, strengthening institutional capacity and ensuring a more transparent and efficient public administration system for the benefit of citizens.
